This
very
nice
young woman with her child are out selling postcards and
trinkets.
That seems to be a good business with the tourist trade. The
young babies I had seen were alert and happy, strong. There were some
folks
we met with limbs deformed, thanks Agent Orange.

small
motorcycles
everywhere. Most were 4 cycle engines, very few 2 stroke.
The air quality was quite good, and the impression I got from Vietnam
is that it was very clean. The sidewalks were swept, the roads
swept,
everything fresh.

We
are
at a open air market. |

There
are
people selling pretty much whatever you could want here.
Fresh. Still swimming in the bowl.

Then
it
is off by pedicab to the Imperial Palace in Hue.
The cab drivers all seemed to be in pretty good spirits, there were
about
20 of them waiting for our group to arrive. One started singing that
Ricky
Martin tune as he pedaled off, Ole' Ole' ole' . The trip was less
than a kilometer.

Much
was lost here in the war, we are in a restored section. |

The awesome Urns, inscribed with scenes
of History. Many with bullet scars. |

Back
to
the
Cab! The drivers were prepaid by the group, but still
asked for a dollar when we arrived. at the Temple. My driver said 2$,
which
is almost like robbery. Of course since I had literally "just got off
the
boat"
I thought it was a ok deal, and paid him. Most of the other
people
were only asked for 1$, I must have had "RUBE" written on my
forehead.
You can take a auto cab clear across Bangkok for less than
2$.
Of course, they wanted another 1$ to pedal back. |

the
Perfume River. |

We
sailed
down the Perfume River in a small boat powered by a single
cylinder
diesel. These young Women are playing for us, and the crew on the boat
somehow produced 7 courses of wonderful food. Chug chug chug chug
chug The pilot of the craft was barefoot, and would run the throttle (a
string going back to the engine from the throttle lever) with his toe. |

Great
view,
other small boats going by, a very busy river. Lots of families
living on boats. |

I
was
at a museum across from an amusement park in Qui Nhon, and these
kids were out playing. Very friendly and smart, boundless energy. They
all shook my hand.
